All third party instructors set their own course schedule, register their own participants and determine their own fee structure. Contact the chapter for more information about these courses. Parent & Child Aquatics Skills Program This course is designed to help young children from 6 months through age 5 become comfortable in and around the water so that they are ready to learn to swim. A parent or other caregiving adult is required to accompany each child in the water and participate in the classes. Learn to Swim - Levels 1-6 From Level 1 (Water Exploration), which orients participants to the aquatic environment and teaches them elementary skills, through Level 6, that reviews and perfects all strokes and skills presented at various levels, these courses encourage good lifetime fitness habits. Instructor candidates must by 16 years of age by the end of the instructor course. Fundamentals of Instructor Training is a prerequisite to the Water Safety Instructor Course. Organizations that offer this course Aquatic Training & Consulting Services: 301-760-7114 Lifeguarding Instructor The purpose of the Lifeguarding Instructor course is to train candidates to teach Lifeguard Training (includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid), AED Essentials, Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer, Preventing Disease Transmission, Community Water Safety and Basic Water Rescue. The training prepares instructor candidates by developing their understanding of how to use course materials, how to conduct training sessions, and how to evaluate participants' progress.
